Forest Whitaker wins Oscar for Idi Amin role

"...a prolific character actor who gained 50 pounds and learned some Swahili for the role that landed him Hollywood's highest honor for a big-screen performance."

Part of Whitaker's thank you speech "...I want to thank the people of Uganda who helped this film have a spirit. "

"God, who believes in us all - and who has given me this moment in this lifetime that I will hopefully carry to the end of my lifetime and into the next lifetime."

I'm glad Forest won. However, there seems to be an interesting trend in Hollywood. Beside Sidney Poitier who won an Oscar in 63 all other African Americans have won when play roles with negative persona...Forest Whitaker for Idi Amin ( A dictator), Halle Berry ( a drug addict who I believe won sadly bcos of her on-screen intimate scene), Denzel for being a bad Cop and the list goes on.

How about giving an award to Don for his role in Hotel Rwanda or Djimon Hounsou for his role in Blood Diamond…could it be that we only get noticed when we act like the stereotypical Black person…just a thought!
