All African-Americans can become citizens?

The African Union is proposing to give full citizenship to Black Americans in 2008. The concept has been under discussion for the past 4 years. Wow...I never heard about this proposal before.
On the surface, it seems to be a good idea but I think it requires some deeper thought.
Nice one Wale!

I share your surprise Bella Naija. I'm curious about what this new African citizenship will mean: free transAfrican travel without hassel? 10 acres and 10 mules for ever Black American? While I'm highly skeptical of this idea, I think if it helps Africa develop stronger, less exploitative economic institutions, then I say, let's go for it!

We need to stop thinking everyone in the world owes us for slavery. When the U.S. government offered the 40 acres and a mule for former slaves transitioning to freedom, it was because whites here owed our ancestors for taking them forcibly from Africa and placing them in demeaning servitude. Africans don't owe us reparations, so we need to squash the talk of 40 acres and a mule and set-asides when dealing with them.
